The Relinquish EP From UBUR And Never Say Die Records Is A Certified Slapper

UBUR released his highly anticipated Relinquish EP on Friday through Never Say Die. This fresh EP is a wild ride from start to finish, complete with heavy dub tunes and bouncy jump up inspired rhythms. The Relinquish EP contains tracks such as "Milk Argument", a bone-shattering piece that centers around a hysterically odd vocal sample and is limned by wet and wobbly basslines. "Geeked Up", a playfully bouncy dubstep tune and, of course, the hard-hitting title track, "Relinquish", featuring Syzy. I reached out to UBUR to ask about his experience producing this awesome project, he shared “It’s really tough to describe since on one end this is the most work I’ve put into an EP yet!  I tried to make sure it’s as diverse as possible so...there could be a style that everyone can enjoy!” This attitude of inclusion for his entire fanbase is one of the most endearing factors that sets UBUR out from the pack. He finds joy in pushing boundaries and innovates in an industry that tends to circle back all too often. He went on to explain a bit about his creative process, and what he is most proud of within the EP, “I’m...really ADHD with producing sometimes...[ I ] go all over the place with dubstep and now bass music too.  One thing I’m most proud of is Bulletproof...it was the very first jump up tune I’ve actually finished”. In the same way "Bulletproof" stands out to UBUR, the upbeat banger also stands out in a wildly unique fashion from the other heavy-hitting anthems on this EP. The jump up styled track showcases Belgian drum and bass influences while incorporating incredibly wonky sound design to create an impressively energetic, aggressive, and tasteful concoction of sound. UBUR elaborated, “I’m a big fan of DnB (more specifically jump up)...quarantine [ gave ] me the opportunity to finally branch out and work on something in that style...I’m just so glad that I did”. All in all, I couldn’t be more impressed by this stunning effort. This release is a year removed from the Painful Choice EP, and the creative differences show the vast range this producer is capable of presenting at a mastery level.
