Yoko has just made her Odyzey Music debut through her track "Serve It Like," released as a part of Muzique, Vol. 3 on August 25th this summer. Now Yoko is stepping things up to a new level with Odyzey through the release of her new EP, The Masquerade.
The four-track endeavor includes four killer bass tracks, that range from the low-end focused single, "The Day We Made The Earth Stand Still," to hip-hop reminiscent "The Masquerade" and back again to close out the EP on two heavy hitters in "Zealous Jester" and "Harlequins Waltz."
I reached out to Yoko to ask her about the EP, and she left me with a cryptic message, very on par with the eerie tone of the project, and perfect for the spooky season it comes to us in:
“Behind every facade lies a world of hidden stories and concealed dreams. The Masquerade represents an opportunity to unveil a symphony of untold melodies from the perspective of the masked, because even behind the most intricate disguise lies the authentic self, waiting eagerly to step out and dance in the spotlight when the time is right.”
All in all, this EP is a great venture into experimental themes and shows the great progress Yoko has made as a producer. My favorite track is the EP's namesake, "The Masquerade." I just can't get over the catchy rhythms and quick pacing!
Yoko is kicking off her fall tour TONIGHT at WAKAAN Festival. Be sure to check your local safety warnings for potential overexposure to wubz, and while you're at it pick up a ticket to Yoko's stop near your city!
As usual, I would like to give a huge thank you to both Yoko and the team at Odyzey Music for their support of the blog. Press packs and shoutouts go a long way, and these folks have been very kind to Jimbotron.Online. Check out Yoko's The Masquerade EP from Yoko down below!
